Dwadashi Shraddha
Dwadashi Shraddha is the 12th day of the Pitru Paksha or Mahalay Paksha. This Shradh is also known as Sanyasi Shraddh, Yathi Mahalaya, Baras Shraddha, Yateenam Mahalayam and Yathi Dwadashi Shraddha.
According to the Hindu calendar, Dwadashi Shraddha falls on the Dwadashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. As per the North Indian Amavasyant Calendar, it falls on the 12th day of Pitru Paksha in Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month.
It is an auspicious day to offer Shradh rituals to Saints. In 2018, the date of Dwadashi Shraddha is 6th October on Saturday.
As per the Hindu calendar, Dwadashi Shraddha is performed for those who died on the Dwadashi Tithi, including both Shukla and Krishna Paksha Dwadashi. Tarpan is offered to the deceased and Pind Daan is performed as the process of Shraddha.
Magha Shraddha
During the Pitru Paksha, Magha Shraddha is performed in honor of their forefathers and deceased members of the family. This Shraddha is performed during the Mahalaya Paksha when Magha Nakshatra exists during the Aparahana Kaal.
This Shraddha is observed on the “Amavasya” of the Hindu Magha month. This day is considered propitious for performing Pitru Tarpan, Daan and Snan.
