According to the Scriptures, Navratri is a Hindu festival of worship. The word Navratri stands for nine nights in Sanskrit; Nava means Nine and Ratri mean nights. These nine nights and ten days is dedicated to Goddess Durga, During Navratri, nine forms of Shakti are worshipped.

Navratri starts on the first day of Ashwin month. The nine-day long festival comes to an end on the 10th day.

 The tenth day is celebrated as Dusshera. These nine nights are dedicated to the three main Goddesses of Hinduism – Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati. Navratri is divided into sets of three days.
