Baglamukhi Devi is one of the ten Devi Mahavidyas in the Hindu culture. The word “bagla” is derived from Valga which means to rein in. the goddess is majorly associated with yellow color and referred to as Pitambari Maa in the northern part of India.

The Baglamukhi Temple is located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The goddess has somewhat tantric and hypnotic connotation in the Hindu scriptures – the one who has power to control. The goddess also preaches that in due course of time, each emotion or attribute changes into its exact opposite form – speech translates into silence, misery into fortunes, riches turn beggars and so on. The goddess preaches the dualities that exist in nature and that man must undergo all to experience nature in its fullest form.

This temple is one of the Ten Mahavidyas which is capable of destroying all evils. Probably this is the reason of all tantric connotations associated with Goddess Baglamukhi.
