What is Saptami Shraddha?
Saptami Shraddha is the seventh day of Pitru Paksha. Saptami Shraddha is also known as Satpava Shraddha.
According to the Hindu calendar, Saptami Shradha falls on the Saptami tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month.
As per the North Indian Amavasyant Calendar, Saptami Shradh falls on 7th tithi of Ashwin month.
On this day, Saptamatrika or seven divine mothers in Hinduism are also worshipped. In 2018, the date of Saptami Shraddha is 1st October on Monday.
Saptami Shraddha is performed for those who died on the Saptami Tithi as per the Hindu calendar. Deceased may have died in either fortnight i.e. Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha.
Tarpan is offered to the deceased and Pind Daan is performed as the process of Shraddha.

Rituals of Saptami Shradh Puja

- After the completion of all the rituals, the food is offered to a Brahmin.
- You have to give the food to crow or cow
- “Daan” is also done on the Saptami Shraddha for the deceased family member who dies on this tithi.
