What is Panchami Shraddha?
Panchami Shraddha is the fifth day of Pitru Paksha. Panchami Shraddha is also known as Panchami Bharani or Maha Bharani.
According to the Hindu calendar, Panchami Shradha falls on the vidiya tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month.
As per the North Indian Amavasyant Calendar, Panchami Shradh is fall in the month of Ashwin.
Panchami Shraddha is helpful for those who suffer from inferiority complexes. This is the fifth day of the sixteen-day long Mahalaya Paksha.
In 2018, Panchami Shraddha date is 29th September on Saturday. Panchami Shraddha is performed for those who died on the Panchami Tithi as per the Hindu calendar.
Deceased may have died in either fortnight i.e. Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha.
Tarpan is offered to the deceased and Pind Daan is performed as the process of Shraddha. This puja brings love, peace and prosperity in the family.

Rituals of Dwitiya Shradh
- Panchami Shradh rituals involve offering tarpan to the ancestors. It is a way of giving respect and tribute to one’s ancestors.
- After the tarpan, Pind Daan is performed.
- After the completion of all the rituals, the food is offered to a Brahmin.
- You have to give the food to crow or cow.
- “Daan” is also done on the Panchami Shraddha for the deceased family member who dies on this tithi.
