Shivratri is one of the great and auspicious festivals in HInduism. The Shivratri Vrat is considered very powerful vrat which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Masik Shivratri is celebrated every month on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha. Masik Shivratri in month of Magha is known as Maha Shivratri which is observed once a year. The devotees observed a strict fast on this day to appease Lord Vishnu. According to the HIndu mythology, it is believed that in the midnight of Shivratri, Lord Shiva was appeared in the form of Linga.
