According to the Scriptures, Navratri is considered one of the auspicious festivals in Hindu religion. This festival has a great importance in India. Navaratri is celebrated with great devotion throughout the country.

 It was also celebrated in the Ramayana and Mahabharata era by our Hindu kings. Navratri is a nine-day long festival in the Hindu calendar.

All the nine days of Navratri are dedicated to nine forms of Goddess Durga, namely - Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Kushmanda, Chandraghanta, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Siddhidatri and Mahagauri. Navratri stands for nine nights in Sanskrit.

During Navratri, Ghatasthapana is one of the auspicious and significant rituals in Hinduism. Ghatasthapana marks the beginning of Navratri. According to the scriptures, Ghatasthapana should be performed during an auspicious time at the beginning of Navratri.

It is believed that Ghatasthapana is the invocation of Devi Durga. You cannot perform Ghatasthapana ritual during Amavasya as it is prohibited. The most auspicious period to perform this ritual is the first one-third of the day. During Abhijit muhurat, you can also perform Ghatasthapana ritual
