The Amarnath Yatra is said to be one of the most difficult and adventurous of them all. The Amarnath cave is located deep in the lap of Jammu and Kashmir. The cave is covered with snow almost round the year minus a few days in the summers when it is left open for pilgrims to visit. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva or Mahadev.
The journey to this shrine is only open for pilgrims for a small duration sin summers as the rest of the year the adjoining terrain is fully snow-clad and inaccessible. The risk involved in this Yatra is often cited in newspapers and television nevertheless being ardent believers of Bholenath, it hasn’t deterred the believers into visiting the holy shrine.
In the recent times, the government of India has tried to make this tedious Yatra a little more comfortable via airplanes and other aerial modes of transport. This has been a great advantage in popularizing this temple and this Yatra.
